Miscellaneous metals takeoffs, item by item.

Stairs, handrails and guardrails, ladders, platforms, lintels, bollards, embeds and canopies: the items that hide in architectural sheets and eat estimating time. Steelest finds them, counts them and measures them, so your misc package is priced from a complete list.

What we take off

  • Stairs: flights, landings, stringers, treads and risers by type, with their rails and guards listed alongside.
  • Handrails and guardrails by lineal length, type and mounting, interior and exterior.
  • Ladders and cages, roof access hatches and crossover platforms.
  • Loose lintels from the door and window schedules and wall sections, by opening size.
  • Bollards, pipe guards and dock equipment supports from the site and floor plans.
  • Embeds, edge angles and bent plates at slab edges, pits and openings.
  • Canopies, sunshades and screens from the elevations and roof plans.
  • Mezzanine and platform framing where it sits outside the main structural package.

Where the items are found

Misc metals are rarely on one sheet. We work through the architectural plans, elevations, wall sections and schedules, the structural typical details, the site plan and the mechanical roof plan, and list each item with the sheet and detail it came from, so your estimator can see the basis for every line.

What you receive

  • An itemized list: item, quantity, length or size, location and sheet reference, grouped the way you price (by item type or by area).
  • The PDFs with Bluebeam markers on every counted item and a legend with counters.
  • A list of questions where the drawings are unclear or sheets disagree.

Scope

We can take off the full architectural set for misc metals, or only the items you ask for. Anything found outside the agreed scope, such as elevator sill angles or signage supports, is flagged rather than silently included. Misc metals are often combined with a structural steel takeoff of the same project in one package.
